这句话显然是有具体语境的，我想divorce的意思差不多和你困惑的一样。
老规矩，还是麻烦交代一下具体语境，这句话出自什么地方，是在某篇科学小品文里？还是杂志的广告插页上？
这些都是语境，语境是很重要的，千万不要小看他。

      对于划线部分，先说说sump oil。
      sump oil--油底壳油
      这是汽车发动机的油底壳中的废油，国外有很多畜牧场把这种废油涂抹在养殖场的木围栏上，可以防腐、防虫蛀，木材涂上油底壳油至少可以保持8-10年不腐烂、不被虫蛀。
      可能有养猪者常把sump oil涂在猪身上以防蚊虫或其它寄生虫。
      兴许也有人认为混群时给猪身上涂sump oil能帮助消除猪身上异味、防止打架（待考证）。
      作者在这里不主张把sump oil涂在猪体表这种做法，而主张用厕所清新剂或清洁剂来喷涂猪体表面，作者借用"Don't use it unless you want a divorce!"这种诙谐的说法巧妙地表达了自己的主张。
      我觉得这里用的“divorce”也许可以理解为作者使用了英文中“隐喻”的修辞手法。

      所以，我觉得可以认为这里的divorce是使用了隐喻的修辞手法，可以引申为“混群失败”或“并群失败”。
